Do you know what Keep Calm and Carry On is all about? The poster was issued by the British Government during the Second World War to raise the morale of the British public in the potential event of an invasion. Two and a half million copies of the poster were created (with only 2 originals remaining today), and were only given out limitedly. The designer is still unknown to this day. And then, all of a sudden in the year of the Millennium, one of the posters was discovered in a thrift store in Northumberland, England, and started this massive commercial burst of reprinting, which inspired consumer items like clothing, mugs and everything else we’ve seen on Tumblr. That is pretty fucking cool if you ask me.
